ZIPPERS MADE EASY

This is for those of you who are afraid of zippers. I know there are tutorials out there that could do 100% better than myself in explaining this but....you are stuck with me for now. When I showed a few of the gals that sew with me on Thursdays this, they go aahhhhhhhh that isn't bad at all...

SO............. you have your zipper face up....a zipper foot.

Take your material and sew it with the front side down (pattern side down).

Then you just butt your zipper foot up against the zipper itslef.

Back stitch and start sewing, right up against the zipper....yes I already said that...

Then you just change your sewing foot, then flip the material over and top stitch. Any questions?

Easy...truly, just try it, you will be so amazed....If I can do this, trust me, anyone can ........

  2. OMGosh it can't be THAT easy LOL. I've bookmarked this posting so that when I actually take the time to make a tote I'll not be afraid of the zipper.

    Thanks Barb,

  4. that's what I like, a nice simple explanation. I have the small barrell cosmetic case that you made and the zipper is in perfectly. Good work, my friend and thanks for sharing

  5. Great explanation. In theory I've always known how to do them..I just have a mental block against doing so..kind of like I have with the metric system. Just is never going to happen in this lifetime!

  7. Hi Barb, I use to be scared to death to try to put in a zipper but really once you try it and learn it, it's not that hard at all. Sure some will learn from your tutorial, thanks for sharing it.

  9. So this would work on a garment? A skirt or dress?? I did zippers years ago but have since gotten lazy and make really easy garments for my dd and avoid zippers. I have some patterns though....
so why is your fabric below the zipper pull and not to the top of the zipper tape?
