SAMOAN KAVA BOWL QUILT

I just saw that the last time I posted was May 23.....how on earth did that happen?

Then I thought back on my life this last month and I know exactly how that happened.

Shewwwwweeeeee

We cleaned out my sewing room, the room my sons and his family were living in.  The next day we went to Ohio and met up with our Daughter in law and grandson to bring them back to live in my sewing room.  I have given up on having that room again, I really don't mind.   I did set up my longarm, took it away from the wall and oiled and dusted it.  My daughter in law doesn't mind if I set up a quilt in that room.   My son is overseas],  we felt bad for her.  She lives in New York and has been quarantined all that time with our grandson.

Then .... yes there is more.  It seems all I do is babysit and when I am done, I am too tired to do much else.  If you think that was a whine.....you are so right....

A friend from Samoa asked me to do a Samoan BABY QUILT.

You all know it takes me longer to think then it does to actually make a quilt.  Took two weeks just to finalize what I wanted to do.

           Samoan Kava Bowl
              44" x 44"

I had purchased the background fabric and geometric fabric from Hancock's of Paducah.  Maryellen McAuliffe sold me the black.  Perfect fabric for what I wanted to do.

Here is the back....

I am so glad this is finished, now I can go on to other things.

Crazy world out there.  All of you be safe!!

Helping your daughter-in-law and grandson is more important than a sewing room. Good on you Barb. It is a crazy time we are living in. We need to do what is best for ourselves and our families. I found your Kava bowl quilt fascinating. I didn't know anything about it. I had to google it. Very interesting. Stay safe and stay well.

That is really interesting. I had to go look up the "Kava bowl" since I had never heard of it. I am sure your friend from Samoa will love the quilt.

Well I was wondering the same thing about your posts...kept seeing the same post from May come up in my feed. But good to know you are back! It will be nice for your family to be away from NY and with other family. I know how much you will miss your son though. Lovely quilt. Sorry for the loss of your sewing room and some of your time but glad you are able to be there for your dear family.

Your Samoan Kava Bowl is so beautiful. What an amazing design and absolutely perfect fabrics and colors. It will make a wonderful baby quilt. What a perfect way to celebrate the arrival of such a bundle of joy in Samoa too!

You have a big heart for kids and grandkids. They are precious and you treat them that way. I think a little complaining is justified. I love the quilt you made, as I am sure the recipient does. I don't know much about Samoan designs, but will check it out!
