If you have been with my blog and reading for sometime, you would know that I am an island girl at heart.

I have always said I was born in the wrong place.

Oh....I can certainly smell the ocean looking at this picture

Before we left Samoa I had planted a little pineapple plantation (that is what I called it)
Here is a little picture of my pineapples which I never got to pick.

It has been nine years and I still miss my friends and the little island out in the South Pacific.

That is why for my mini challenge for the Island Batik Ambassadors

I chose to do a little Island Mini.

I knew immediately what I wanted to do.

So I searched the internet for Island pictures.

Here is the one I chose.

drew the pieces I needed

cut around the outlines

Arranged the pieces how I wanted them.

Then did a little thread work.

put on a sleeve, and there you have it.

I used mostly Island Batik scraps but did open a roll or two of my new stash builders.

That’s really pretty, Barb. I love the red hibiscus.

One could never tire of those views. I still can see our Hawaiian view in my mind. I have my own pineapple garden here - planting each pineapple we eat. They are not nearly as sweet as eating them there.

Totally understand! Once the pacific islands have your heart, you will never be totally free of them. Vanuatu has the same pull for us. Pretty mini :)

You are such an amazing designer. And I remember when you left your special island and made the big move. It's hard to leave paradise.

I remember when you were an Island Girl. LOL... we have known each other for a while now. I do not remember knowing that you were growing pineapples. What an adventure.
Your mini is a true delight. I love your artistic use of the fabrics to create depth and richness to this little quilt.
