Don't look Ethel!!!
I have made a fun simple block out to be the most complicated ever!!!
I will just chalk it up to a bad sew day.
Actually, I will be totally honest....... I missed a few of the directions in my haste to get this block completed.
So.... 1. make sure you trim down your 7" middle square to 6 1/2" (yes, that will make a big difference and will eliminate a great source of frustration).
2. trim all of your half squares to 2" as mentioned in the post before this one.
I cut off some of the flying geese points....I think I stretched and pulled this poor block in every way possible...so I am now going to make another one.
Truly, this block is totally beautiful, I love love love it. In fact, I think it is one of my favorites but.....I just made a mess of it.
Jacquelyne has done a fabulous job on these squares, they are easy and so fun but read the directions and try not to miss some of the key points (hanging head in shame).....

Love the block and the material you are using for it.
Super cute block. Sorry you skipped a step, but it is still pretty.

It looks good to me!
Looks good to me! I haven't made mine yet. Maybe I shouldn't look at yours. LOL
Love, love your colors! (Whispering) I have had some issues with my blocks, too, so you're not the only one! Hehee!
Looks good and I love the colors. I haven't made my second block yet so I'll read the instructions carefully.
Ahhh, you just rushed in because you were so excited to make that beautiful block, :)
It looks really beautiful, Barb! Everyone has bad sew days- I really hate it when I rip out an entire seam... and then realize that I ripped out the seam that was OK and now have to re-do that one, and rip out and re-do the one that was wrong in the first place!!
Sometimes what we think is a wrong turn leads us to the most scenic view. :) blessings, marlene
A bad sew day is better than a good no-sew day. Maybe this one could go on the back?
I feel your frustration! I believe we've all had days like that! There have been times when I finally just walked away from the sewing area and found something else to do!!
It's very pretty even if you did miss a couple of steps. I love the applique you did in the center square. and the colors you chose are beautiful.
What you did sounds like ME!! Don't feel badly. The block is pretty.
Love the center of your block
At least you did complete the block - right or wrong. I have not even started. You could be looking at this from my perspective and thinking as I am "Why is it taking you so long to get started?" "So what if I make a mistake or two? Doesn't everyone sooner or later?" and on and on goes the voice in my head... I have forgotten where the on/off switch is hiding.
Nice applique...did you do it by hand or machine?
I love the flower fabric, I have used it in all three colors before!! Love your block!!!
Remember, we are our own worst critics. I love the block.. and I love how the quilting is done in the post above this one. Echo quilting looks great on a lot of things.
I also want to let you know I have changed the name of my blog without starting a brand new one. So PigTalesandQuilts.com wont update any longer on your sidebar list of blogs.
Will you please add www.stitchandquilt.com to your side bar and then I will show as Stitch and Quilt.
Then please delete the pigtalesandquilts entry.
Thanks so much. :)
