Twenty-one stars I will add. We decided that I was to do the applique around the stars for the "Service Banners" the young women are doing for a service project, they will do the rest.
"Pigtales and Quilts" gave me these wonerful items from a giveaway she was having. Thanks so much Thearica!
I tend to get disinterested when I do the same things over and over...so this is BREAK TIME for me in doing those stars....I think I have 11 more to do...
Maybe I will have a chocolate chip cookie.....now here is something funny. I always try to sneak something healthy in the food I made. I put chia seeds in these cookies...and then I save some back for me and put flax seed in mine (along with the chia seeds).
My son sees these cookies and goes...WHY...WHY did you try to make healthy cookies?????
Trust me...they taste just as good. Just a little added fiber. HA!!!
I could never sneak one over on them....applesauce in the cake, baby prunes in the frosting, chicken broth instead of milk in mashed potatoes....they always find me out. Gives me a chuckle!!!

That's a lot of stars to applique' in one day but you can handle it. I think you are doing a great job of coming up with fun projects for the girls.
I have a non-traditional service star quilted banner that I made when my son first joined the Marine Corps and it hangs in his old bedroom. I guess I should make one like yours to hang in the front window!
The young people will love their banners. When I have ice cream I tell myself the calcium makes up for fat and sugar. And if it's strawberry, I get fruit too :)
Ha ha. Your sons would probably give me a hard time over the chopped green beans (or sometimes green peas -the ones my mother calls 'English peas')I put in my spaghetti sauce.
Aha.... so the snacks are at your house too!! Lots and lots of stars... I can understand why you need a break...

Mine always find the tofu I try to "hide" in salads or other stuff!! Or using soy or almond mil in a shake, instead of real milk!!!
Barb my son is the same way and He won't eat carrot cake or anything sweet if it has a vegetable in it and he always knows. Now my daughter the vegetarian loves all of that and she would love flaxseed etc.
I have 4 grands here right now and so far they are eating pretty good. Snack was seaweed and edename.
Barb you crack me up! Your son's sound like David!hee, hee, hee.
I would love healthy cookies. :)
xx, shell
Aren't all men on top of food items...they always know if it has even a drop of anything wholesome and healthy! They have sonnar, I think.
My sister hated onions as a child. Mom cooked her food in a special separate pan - no onions - or so she thought. Mom actually purred the onions so sister never knew. She learned the family secret after her marriage when she complained her meatloaf just didn't taste like mom's. Mom's are tricky like that!
Fun post and inspirational idea to celebrate Flag Day. I was sewing stars today, but sadly I wasn't thinking about Flag Day. Shame on me. But maybe you'll forgive me as I was thinking Patriotic thoughts as I was sewing my stars and using, red, white & blue fabrics & thread.

PS - Next year we need to think about a Flag Day blog hop. I'd certainly participate if you want to host it.
The healthy cookies sound yummy Barb. I try to make healthy foods also. Kids never like healthy, but they will thank you later in life.
Mmmm...cookies! I'll be right over and I'll bring the milk.
I would get distracted from doing the same thing over and over too, but I know you will get 'er done :0)
I cook balanced meals but if I'm going to bake cookies (which I hate to do) they are going to be really bad for you....no bird seed is used in any of my cooking LOL.
Crispy
Moms can be tricky that way. But we do it all for our kids. Your cookies are making me hungry. Happy Star Making!
I'm lucky because most of the times my family does not notice if I add healthy things to their food. My Husband told me one day that if I substituted apple sauce for the oil when I bake it would be healthier. I told him that was very good information especially since I had been doing that for years. lol I don't tell them any of my little "tricks" because they would stop eating some of the things I make.
I love grated apples in the pancakes...so yummy! Haven't made in ages, either.
