HAWAIIAN BOOK
I have the first two volumes and now I have the third. Got this at the airport while waiting for my husband to join me. I was actually looking for Sarah Palin's book "Going Rogue"....and yes, I am not ashamed of wanting to read her book...what of it...what you going to do about it??? Hurt me? I think not.....anyways, they didn't have it but had this quilting book.
So.....wanting something to do...I went to Walmart, yes Walmart....gonna make something of it????...... to get a piece of material or two for a project from said book. Got two fat quarters, needles (sure wish I had the stuff Chris sent me) scissors, and
already had thread sent to my son from Connecting Threads (30 percent off threads, free shipping and knowing I was coming to my sons...well....worked out perfect...think I have enough thread?)....so there you have it...all set....
well....................................... I folded it wrong...have you ever started a project and that little voice speaks to you and says...you are doing it wrong and then you just go ahead and do it wrong and later wish you had listened to that voice....POOOOEEEY>........
I am so upset...
material ruined....
project aborted....
momma unhappy.
We are depending on our sons to drive us around for a while until our one son brings us his car (trying to save money....what....got something wrong with that tooo?)...Man...you have an attitude!!
Anyways...will have to wait until Monday to get more material....have alot of free time and
yes...did find that Sarah Palin book....yepeeeeeeeee
moma happy now.....doesn't take much!!

I want all that thread!! Have fun with your sons.
Oh man...what a bummer. Love all the thread though!!!
I picked up SP"s book last week and will read it after I finish my Elm Creek one that I am into right now.
Your entry today gave me a good life, which I needed. I will be reading Sarah Palin's book when my daughter finishes. I'm sorry your ruined the fabric, could you possibly use it for applique'ing something else. Have a great time visiting your sons!
Not sure if you had a good day or a bad day... you bought a quilting book in an airport - good day! Much yummy thread - good day! Ruined a FQ - bad day! Found a book you wanted - good day! No transport - bad day! You're with family - good day! Good outweighs the bad - no bad attitude here!
Hugs - Shari
I too have these Hawaiian Quilt books and have made many of their designs. All very easy to follow with good insights in the book. Enjoy!

Barb you are one lucky lady. I have never seen a quilting book at an airport. It was definetly meant to be. smart of you to have the thread sent to your sons. If there is an IKEA at his town, get some flat sheets. They are 100%cotton, only $4.99 and work perfectly for quilt backings.
I"m glad momma is happy now!!! hehehe Our Walmarts don't have fabric any longer....and only a very bare minimum of sewing supplies...which is sad. It was a quicker trip to run to Walmart for a zipper or thread than to go to the quilt shops or 45 miles to Joanna's in Dover. *sigh*
HI Barb, HOpe you are safely at your son's and into all the Family Christmas stuff.YOu read anything you wish we love you my quilty friend. Have a beautiful week. Hugs, Marie
Hey, "Mama" I don't care what you read or where you shop. Those are your choices to make. (((grin)))) those parentheses are my dimples.
LOL
Love the thread! Is that one of the collections from Connecting Threads? (or maybe two?) I had a couple of those on my Christmas wish list. I won't know till after the first of the year if the Nana decided to get them for me. But there will be other sales. And I got a couple of spools of Aurifil to try.
Glad "mama' is happy now!
A glad mama is much better than a sad mama and I'm happy you are the glad mama now :0)

Enjoying yourself I see!! Hee!! I think we've all been there ourselves...we need to listen to the little voices in our heads for sure! Enjoying your book?
Wow! Imagine finding a cool book like that at an airport! Makes me want to go on a vacation! Sorry the folding didn't work out. But what the heck, if it means another trip to Walmart. Nothing wrong with that! And as far as I'm concerned, you can read anything you want!
Love the thread! Quilting books at the airport...very cool.
Sounding kinda feisty!! Glad you get to visit the boys for Christmas. Have a truly wonderful time!
I ordered Sarah Palin's book as soon as it came out - from our library - I'm number 32 to get it. I've got a while to wait! I hate what they've done to her - a perfectly good, moral, leader of a very large state and with a great popularity there. They've made her a laughing stock. Not sure she can rise above all that vile garbage to win an election but I can hope....

I have one Hawaiian book that a friend brought to me years ago. Wow love your thread collection :-)
thanks barbara fo the card and yes I still have a box for you and will mail it after the holidays and will continue to add to it. Telling all bloggers that I am having a huge giveaway on my blog until the end of the month and will add something new everyday until the end. Go check it out.
I think her book would make for a good read! She is an interesting person.
I want to learn how to do Hawaiian quilting - those designs are so beautiful...

I have been offline for about 2 weeks and missed blogging so much! I am happy to see you are going to your son's for the holidays. Your book find looks wonderful. I have been wanting to try this technique and make one of these, so might have to find it for myself!
Too bad about the fabric-I always make a paper pattern, I'm way to chicken to fold and cut the fabric!
When I'm in the US, I also like to go to Walmart for fabric-especially when I need yards and yards for quilt backs. I once got a treasure trove of homespun plaids and finally used them this past year!
That Hawaiian quilt book looks great, how fun to find it at the airport. Oh, I wanna get me some of that thread. Should have put that on my wish list for dh. I won a spool on Greg's blog and haven't tried it out yet. Do you piece or quilt with it or both? Enjoy the Holiday Season and have a Merry Christmas.
I will have to look into those books. They look wonderful!
