My husband and I had many financial struggle in our marriage due to trying to get his schooling and having five children in the process.
One Christmas his mother gave me a twenty dollar gift certificate to Walmart. I went and purchased me a snow globe. I always loved them...and I truly loved this one, I think up to that point there were not many gifts for me and well....I truly cherished this globe. One day it came up broke.
None of the boys would confess and so....the mystery of who broke it remained unsolved...........................until our second son got his first job many years later. You guessed it, he brought me a snow globe.....I just had to smile as I opened it. To this day this snow globe brings a smile to my face and warms my heart. I did not bring much with me but I brought the few things that bring me joy and this is one of them.
This is what I am working on today.....we are having a sewing group today...at my house. Yes, the man moved his stuff to his new office.....I am a free woman during the day....yepeeeee my sewing ladies are happy.....I am happy.....and well...when momma is happy everyone is happy.

Lovely snow globe! I used to love those when I was a kid. Your basket is very cute. Can't wait to see what it will become! And I agree, everyone is happy when momma is happy!
Oh Barb I know just how you feel, I collected Hummell figurenes, didn't have many but loved what I had. One day I took them off the shelf to clean them and dust the shelf. I discovered that every one had been broken and very carefully glued together. I was furious, not because they had been broken I figured someone had an accident, but because they all tried to hide it from me. What did they think--that I would never dust the shelf and wash the Hummels. I was so upset that I just cried and cried. When they all came home and
I confronted them, dh told me my middle son was running past, and he turned and his shoulder just fit under the shelf and down it came. It took me the longest time to make it sink in to all of them I was angry not because of the accident because they tried to hide it. I still have all the glued figurenes and I Love to tease my son once in a while about it. He sure learned a lesson and told me I'd rather face the music than see the hurt you had on your face Mom.
How sweet of your son. I have one I cherish that my brother gave me 11 years ago.
Love the basket block Barb. will you be making a whole quilt with them?
Actions speak louder than words! Have a great sewing day.

Oh Barb, you have done such a wonderful job with your boys! You are very blessed!
So did #2 son actually confess or just give a wink and a smile? lol Lovely snow globe.
My bee meets in my dining room this Sunday and I *really* have to clean house first. Yuck! I would rather be quilting.
Take care,

Oh, my.....you have told stories two days in a row that have been very touching ones. You must be a very good mother to raise such caring, sensitive boys!!! Did they already fix the building where your hubby worked or has he moved to another location now?
HI Barb,
Hi Barb,
I also love snow globes and have a collection of them and glass paperweights. The snowglobes are seasonal ones- Valentines, Easter and Christmas ones though I also have a Boyd Bear teacher globe that I love. My valentine's one is not in very good shape these days so it may need to be disposed of- it seems to have lost some of the water. They are just so soothing.
So nice that your son was able to replace it when he could afford to do so.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Warmest regards,
Anna
A lovely story and a wonderful gesture by your son!
Hugs - Lurline♥
Lovely new snowglobe and the story behind it. I hope this time nobody will break your new snowglobe!
That's a pretty basket. Love the shading on the pink flower.
