BERRY BERRY GOOD NEWS

Here is my strawberry patch in rain gutters.  My husband was kind enough to create this for me.  I have had to replace quite a few plants due to all of the rain we have been having.

Here is Thirteen gallons of blackberries.....Dodging the rain to pick them.

Even today I had to come in because of the rain..(you know sugar melts).....but I did get the green bowl filled.

I saw the funniest sight today.  During all of my berry picking and nature walks I have never seen any small animals.  Deer only.  Today I had the two dogs with me and noticed a small creature a few yards from me.  Well...the dogs noticed it too and before you know it this little creature has it's tail up and is chasing the dog.  This lasted for a good five minutes.....the dogs chasing it...it chasing the dogs, in fact, you would think the skunk would give up and go but it stuck it out.

Well...as you can guess we have some pretty smelly dogs....so don't come to the back entrance of my house because unfortunately it stinks.

Here is some quilty goodness.  The siblings are making a signature quilt for my mother.  I am having to do five squares and six if my daughter in law doesn't have time.

Here are four.

I have made a quilt, kitchen towel, two round toppers and two wall hangings which I can not show as of yet.  I will be on Henry Glass & Co. blog.  The Desire to inspire which features about the last week of this month.   I have really enjoyed doing this and if you like to create and want a chance at free fabrics do go and apply for a chance to be on their blog.

Then in July Island Batik is having another blog hop...so can't show you that either.

How dd you not get smelly too?!

Fresh blackberries are delightful! We were on vacation a few weeks ago and the area we were in had them but they weren't ripe yet. Maybe next year!

Mmmmmm, there's little better than fresh berries! You've been a busy girl! How funny that the skunk was the aggressor against two dogs. Perhaps it was a protective mother and you were too close to the babies.

Yaay for the berries....boo for the skunk.
I love your blocks for the signature quilt.

Those berries look delicious! The skunk smell, not so much. Poor dogs. Do you wash them in tomato juice? That is what my son's friend used to do. His dog was always getting sprayed.

Now that is the most interesting strawberry patch I've ever seen. Much easier for picking I must say. LOVE berries! Beautiful signature blocks for your Mom's quilt.

Very smart strawberry patch in the elevated rain gutters. I could actually garden at this height instead of on the ground. Except we have deer who eat everything. We also have skunks but no dogs. Did you bathe them in tomato juice to get rid of the smell? You certainly have picked a lot of blackberries! Great quilt blocks. I do love Island Batik fabrics and your turtles are fabulous. I LOVE that technique of growing your strawberries.

Your mom is going to love her quilt. That is such a great idea and the colors are wonderful for her.

There is nothing as smelly as a skunked animal. Get out the tomato juice! It must have been a funny sight though.

Fresh berries for the picking....sure wish I could pop out my back door for some too. They will be so wonderful to grab from the freezer this winter!

What a neat way to grow strawberries. Definitely one way to keep the rabbits from eating them.
Poor dogs!
