I SAY.....GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!

Jeanette told me last night that I should start with something small for my first project on my new toy. I say.......Go Big or Go home!!
Actually, this top I have is one that I don't mind if I mess up....all the other tops I want to do at least a halfway job.  Yes....that is just the backing....took me yesterday to get that far.

 ---------------------

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH QUILTING

When we first moved into this rental house, we saw maybe one roach every few weeks.

Then it started getting colder and I guess they figure my house is a great place to have refuge.

I say...think again. I can not stand bugs in my kitchen...or anywhere!

So this morning I got on my hands and knees and scrubbed the kitchen and dining room floor and the bathroom floor downstairs.

You are asking yourself.....what does this have to do with bugs...just spray the nasty critters.

My answer to that is....now I feel like my kitchen is dirty....the kitchen cupboards are next....

So...maybe later I will play on my machine or....play a little now and go down and scrub the cupboards later...(I like that idea).
Least ways.....I can not stand clutter or bugs in my kitchen...those little buggards have to GO....

I"m with you on the bug thing....I will get a flash light and my Enviromate Pronto by Reliable...it shoots amazing steam. Not only will it kill the bugs without chemicals...it also sanitizes too. I don't mind a bit-o-clutter....but no bugs!

Hugs,
Kelly

That is a very big quilt. Have fun learning how to use your new toy.

I agree with you! Go big or go home...as long as it isn't something you love. That was my approach the first time I LA'd and I never looked back!

Oh, I can identify....hate those buggers! Hope you get them out of there, and can spend more time playing! LOL

I look forward to seeing your first project on your new machine. I'm sure it will be great.

I also need to do some serious scrubbing. Great time to do it, now that the weather is a bit cooler.

Hope you find time to enjoy and create today.

EW!! I don't do bugs either. Give them something they won't ever forget. POISON!! You have more fun things to do than scrub.

I agree with you that is what I would be doing. I haven't had to much experience with the little nasties except when I was at a friend's in El Paso. We do have them some up here but not like down south.
I will be waiting anxiously to see the first quilt you do on your new machine. Tell me a bit about it.Hugs Sandra

how is your quilting going? i got my frame and machine this summer and finally got the chance to play today. wow. the tension problems i am having. not quite sure what i am doing wrong. but...tomorrow is another day to try again. hope yours is going better than mine. i'm sure it's something i'm not doing right. some set up is just a little bit off. keep me posted on your progress and we can encourage each other to get those tops quilted. my pile of quilt tops is a bit overwhelming.

Barb, when I'm loading a mahoosive piece like that, I take the machine off the frame for loading the fabrics ... It makes it a little easier to smooth it all. Happy bug busting!

On the other hand, you could do the cupboards first with the promise of playtime to come. That's how I deal with chores I really do not want to do. They seem to get done faster that way!

Touch wood I have not seen roaches in our neighbourhood. I completely understand the dirty feeling though. My youngest came home from school with a head louse. I have nit combed her and her sister and myself, stripped the beds and washed the pillows. Just thinking about makes me itch.

Yeesh ... bugs don't belong inside--I'm with you!! Our problem is generally spiders. *shudder* :)

I was in Texas one time and saw a large cockroach scurry through the kitchen and about died! At that same time, I read a story in the paper about a little girl waking up with one in her nose. That about did it for me! Glad I don't live anywhere near them!!!

Good luck getting them out of the house.

I hate bugs (and lizards) in my house too.

I'm with you on the bugs--my house may be cluttered (actually it looks like a nursery school)--but no bugs allowed. And I love that you're tackling a big one. I think you're going to have so much fun. It still takes me a fair amount of time to get a quilt loaded - I can quilt much faster than I can load.

I saw one in my kitchen the other day!!!! I almost passed out! I, like you, freak over nasty bugs in the kitchen and house! Ick, gag, puke! Scrubbed my kitchen too and called the exterminator. Only bunnies can live in my house.

You have a Long Arm? Lucky girl! I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to see your first project!

I hate creepy crawlies inside my house. Right now I have very tiny ants that came in with the plants I moved inside when we were threatened with night frost. Have no idea how to get rid of those.

We get ants here at the cottage in the summer. They can crawl through the smallest of crevices....eweeeh. But cock roaches are likely to live in warmer climates. Not pretty but man they do move fast!
Go to it Barb, have fun with getting to know your new machines.

I'm with you on bugs in the house...hate them!! The worst kind for me though are scorpions (didn't have them back East but now that we are living in the SW I am always looking out for those creepy crawly creatures!)

Have fun with your new 'toy'!!! Thanks for the sweet comment you left on my blog!

When we first moved in to our new home in 2004, about a month passed and I saw a roach laying inside the back entry. I got hysterical!! I called the pest control and demanded to know why there was a roach inside my house when we paid them to spray while the house was being built! They asked me what color it was and i told them... and then they proceeded to remind me that we kept the 8 trees that hubbys grandmother planted many years ago that are basically surrounding the house.. (great on the electric bill!)... They told me it was a tree roach...

I said a roach is a roach and I will not have it... They said a tree roach does not multiply like a common household roach does... WHEWWW! Well, I think I have seen 4 over the last 8 years...

My sister has household roaches and I get the heebie-jeebies when I go visit. I hate those little buggers!
