BIRDIE BLOCK

My husband spoils me.....he left Saturday morning (thought he was upset with me because he usually invites me to come along)....well....

He came home with this. I have already read one book and working on another..... He will probably regret it when he gets his monthly book bill...HA!!

Then I finished this block.....now are you as surprised as I am that I have been keeping up? I am totally floored and so proud. Only two more to go....

It is getting pretty cool outside.....notice that I never complained of the heat...well that is because I hate to be cold......if you take that as a whine....then so be it, just send me some cheese....

Have a wonderful day!

Your husband is so sweet! What a great surprise. You can join the Philadelphia Free LIbrary for $35 a year and check out e-books from them for 3 weeks. Might be cheaper that buying unless you're a big re-reader.

Your block looks great! I just started stitching on mine last night. I'm gonna miss doing these blocks every month when they're all done!

Brie? Manchego? Sometimes you just gotta let it out! LOL

The birdie block is cute. I love the colors and the pumpkin squigglies!

Books on Kindle is one of life's little pleasure. Lots of reading and no clutter!

I know you will enjoy your Kindle. I LOVE mine! I received mine for Christmas last year and there are so many free books available that I read everyday, but have only purchased ONE book!!! I didn't get much sewing done when I first got it either. I couldn't put it down long enough. :) Enjoy!

Hi Barb - there are places you can get your e-books for free (not all are listed). Bonnie Hunter posts a lot of them on her blog for the Kindle. I have a Nook, and my daughter has provided me a website with a gazillion free books. I've gotten hooked on The Outlander Series books by Diana Gabaldon, and all of them are free. I think I am on the 5th book in the series. E-mail me if you're interested in the one I use, and see if you can get your books free and leave all that money for your fabric addiction! Congratulations - like you, I love to read, and I've loved having my e-book.

What a sweet hubby! My mom is trying to convince me to get a Kindle...I just went to Amazon and downloaded the free app and started reading last night. Cheapest way but I am still all about the era of free tv and free books...not sure I could do a kindle.

Love your block...the fabric colors are so pretty.

You are one lucky gal to have such a sweet, thoughtful husband. Enjoy reading your books! But not so much that you stop quilting!

What a sweetheart of a husband you have, Barb! Those book readers are very cool! And your birdie block looks great. I have downloaded them all...just haven't gotten around to stitching them. Maybe one day when I'm caught up with all the other stuff I am behind on! HA!

Have a wonderful day, my friend!

XOXO,

Cyndi

P.S. I HATE the COLD, too! :o(

Hope you like your Kindle as much as we do ours. A word of advice..if you think you'll be playing games (I love Word and Word Crossings), you might want to get a skin to cover the keys as they wear off VERY fast. Have had one Kindle replaced and the new one is doing the same thing. Now I see the new generation Kindles are touch screen and no keys.

Oh, isn't hubby great! Barb, let be one of the first to say, "Put the Kindle down and get back to sewing!" hehehehehehehehe
I have one and have been known to neglect my sewing, often.
Welcome to the club!

I just got a nook for my birthday. I finally figured out last night how to download ebooks from my library. They are free. Free is good. That will cut down on buying books.

Great gift, you are going to love it. Read Bonnie Hunter's blog, she posts free ebooks and reviews.

I love my Kindle! Hubby got it for my birthday this year. Lots of books and no clutter. Wish he'd want one but he doesn't. Oh the room we could have in our house if it weren't for bookshelves! Your birdie block is cute! I haven't even started on mine yet.

I am on a mailing list for free Kindle books. I read them on my iPod touch. I have to say it saves on trips to the library and on buying books. It also saves on shelf space!

Spoiled! I am another Kindle fan. I think I have read 75+ books so far. I love how easy it is to read on the kindle. I make the words a bit larger for fast reading. Our local library finally set up their online site to allow downloading to the kindle so I am sure I will be downloading many more books :) Have fun!!

Barb go quickly to booksontheknob.org and subscribe! She posts daily, sometimes several times a day, all the current free books for the Kindle and the Nook as well. Scroll back through her posts and check because some will be free even though it might have been several days/weeks since she posted. Before you click buy on Amazon though, be sure you double check to see that it really says $0.00 because sometimes they are only free for a few hours or days. I have had my Kindle over 2 years and have over 700 books on it. I've only bought a fraction of those. Often she lists books I'm not interested in but there are many that are good, many that are new authors trying to get a start so they give away their books, and many that sound interesting enough that I download just in case. blessings, marlene
