BEAM N READ BLOG HOP....IF THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, YOU HAVE COME TO THER RIGHT PLACE!!!

So.....I am going on a trip and I was given one of these "Beam N Read" lights to review and try out...... now I can't find it..... I am sure you have been to the other bloggers that have posted about this light and how they use it but....here is how I use mine....that is....when I can find it.

So here is a picture of what it looks like....

This is what it looks like when it is off... It has a red lens for night vision when you are switching from lighted to dark conditions.

Where is this light?

I used it to thread this needle.....boy did it make a difference. I also have the magnifying lens that fits right on it for extra help......(now some do not come with this magnifying lens so you need to be sure you know which one you want and which one you are getting).

The light in my pfaff does not work sometimes so I just put this Beam N Read around my neck (it has an adjustable strap so you can have the light where you need it most) and problem is solved. You hardly know you are wearing it, that is how light it is.

Let me see......I was reading in bed the other day......maybe it is upstairs? Hummmm where can this light be?

Can you believe that people actually make houses with no lights in the bedrooms....so I was using my Beam N Read light to see my stash. Yes, I know, it does look like a tornado blew threw.....what can I say???

I just hang that Beam N Read light around my neck and my hands are free to compare fabrics......hummmm maybe it is lost in the fabrics? Now, wouldn't you want to be a Beam N Read light now....to be lost in fabrics....oh...the smell.....the feel..... This truly is a quilters delight if it loves fabric.

So my son used it to work on his computer....I wonder if he hid it from me?

This is not a joke David.....Where is that light!!!!

I guess I need to stand in line to use it...buy why? It is my light!!!

I know I used it to give me more light in marking the center of this stitchery.....

I must have the light for my trip......it will be great to read in the car, change CD's......and if I can't sleep in the hotel I can do some stitchery and not bother anyone or walk to the bathroom without tripping over people's luggage or shoes....(now that will be a first).

Can you guess where my light was?

Give you one guess, be creative and tell me where you think I found it. As you know, I am giving away one of these lights to one of you out there. So won't you help me find it? No wrong answer...no worries about shipping.

Susan over at Hanging on by Needle and Thread is also reviewing and giving away a Beam N Read light today...so go over and see if she knows where hers is....maybe she will loan it out to me?

If you just can't wait to see if you have won one, you can always go over to Kelly's, I have a Notion and purchase one or get more info. I know there are different versions and prices, so go take a look see.

Thanks Kelly for this fun blog hop and all of you hoppers out there. A special thanks to Bob, marketing manager of Beam N Read.

Friday Patsy Thompson and Kelly at I Have a Notion are giving their thoughts on this awesome light.

I just had to add that this light truly is a delight to travel with. It doesn't take up much space, is light to have around your neck, you can adjust it to where you need the light to be and it doesn't bother anyone else in the process. I made this post before traveling in case I didn't get back in time...but I used this light on my trip and I do believe it will be my traveling companion for now on. Thinking of getting my mother one and my older friend who has trouble seeing (she will love the magnifying glass and the extra light).

I will chose a winner Saturday.

Oh...it was also great because I wanted to buy fabric in the hotel, husband was asleep, really wanted the fabric...so got my little Beam N Read out....oh yes....this Beam N Read really does like fabric, it is enabler.

THIMBLEBERRIES SEW DAY!!

Sorry for the second post but Today is Thimbleberries sew day....

So this is what my project looked like before I stared today.

Here is what I ended up with. It needs the final border which I will do tonight before I go to bed. This quilt will measure 84" x 92"......I just love this quilt.....

Does that sound proud? I hope not but to me this is just such a fun quilt....

If you joined up, let me know and I will come and visit.

GOING GREEN!!!

I just can't stand to throw things away...and so...several times as I was cleaning my sewing room I thought, I really should throw this worn mat away. It is a cheapie from Walmart, I used it when in Texas with my son....eventually it was hard to see the correct measurements. So.....I remembered a long time ago reading how someone saves their old mats for the inserts in bags. This thought always came to mind when I was tempted to throw it away. But I also felt I would never use it.

Wrong!!!!!!! Remeber the screen bag from yesterday's post? It said to put cardboard in the bottom with a slip cover. I have always thought carboard would not last and well.......I am doing the dance.....

An advantage of using this mat is the measurements are on it already. I just needed a 4" x 16" piece. Easy .... Easy..... Got an old trusty pair of non sewing scissors (I said that so you would not gasp)....and cut away!
This is all the fabric I had left.....
So I put a two inch strip on each side.... with 3 inches in the middle. Didn't need the 2 inches on each side......I don't get paid to think.....that is my story. Haven't you ever heard someone say "What were you thinking?" and my answer would be.....duhhhhhhh I don't know!!!
Got a little glue stick, glued one side to the back of the mat, and then turned the other side under and gled it to the fabric that was glued to the mat and then slipped stitched that puppy! Aren't glue sticks wonderful?
Here is the end results all snug as a bug in it's new home!
Now....this is to my mother...you want the bag...you have to come and get it!!!! HA!!!!!! Laughing all the way to the beach!!!

Once again, the Bean N Read blog hop is going on and it is the third day so just go to my side bar and click away. Tomorrow is my day so be sure to come by, I can't wait to give one away!

MY HORIZON MISSED ME, ALONG WITH MR PFAFF.....I WORKED THEM HARD AND HEAVY TODAY!!!!

My mother wanted me to use this fabric for the screen project....but I just couldn't....sooooooo
It went from this....

To this...... I will admit that the screening was not easy to work with but it is now done. How do you like it now.....????

When I was cleaning my sewing room the other day I came across the stencils that my friend Krista made for me before leaving Amerika Samoa and so....today I worked up some towels. Still thinking of embellishing the flowers and pelican...we will see. I have two more towels that need some stitching but that will be for another day.

Don't forget the Beam N Read blog hop.....we are on day 2 now...just click on the links on my sidebar. Thanks!!

Oh...so I topped off my evening with finishing this...whohooooo It is a bright green and navy blue, the colors don't show up well. I really need to learn to work my camera!

I HAVE ENOUGH TO DO!!!

So when I was at my mothers she gave me this screen....can any of you take a quess on what she wants me to do with it?
I told her I have enough projects and that she had just told me how people give her things to do and she has enough to do and now she is pawning off on me one of her projects..... Mom...."I HAVE ENOUGH TO DO".....but seeing how she birth me.......gave me breath.....

And she gave me this awesome pot...you all know how I love things with a lid.... Actually, this has been promised to me way before I went to Samoa....and now it has a place in my home.... I LOOOOVVVEEE IT>>>>>Thanks Mom!!

Actually, I took a look at the directions for this screening and I am excited to do this project. I got this on my way to Texas, not knowing that I was going back to my mothers' on the way home.....so....I had a chance to sit and read...and if I had a sewing machine that I could crank....I would have been in the back seat sewing away....now I am home and soooo excited to work on this project and many others....as long as I can keep my mind and hands in one directions instead of gandering about doing other things....

THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!

Twenty-four hours, five states, and a box of hot tamales later we finally arrived home.

We stopped off at my mother's and that night we put our heads together and came up with this stitchery. I want to add some cactus.....but what a fun wall hanging this will be.

Then she gave me a table runner that my Great Aunt had made.....

Here it is up close and personal....

Here is the back....trust me, my back does not look anything like this....

Don't forget the Beam N Read blog hop tomorrow. The schedule is on my sidebar, just click and you will be transported to where you need to go. Be sure to go By Kelly's, I Have A Notioin
She did a wonderful job putting this together and just tell her thanks, or you can always wait until the last day to do that.....

OOOOPPPPSSSSS

Can you guess what is wrong with this picture? I am laughing as I am looking at it. Now remember it has not been washed yet so some of the markings are still there.....

If you look real close you will see that a flower is missing up top....Pooey. I also noticed since I used that Papermate flair pen that it was easier to follow my markings..... I want to redo this whole thing but NOT!!

I am not happy with this but hey.....I am getting better and that is the whole purpose...to get better...keep trying....

I AM READY!!!!

For July's block.....I am all caught up.

Some of you may have figured out that I am traveling. I really needed a thimble and was able to get one from my mother on our way through to Texas. What a difference it makes.

Now...I am so ready for the awesome Beam N Read blog hop that starts on Monday. If you look on my sidebar you will see what order the hop will go in. This Beam N Read light is sooooo awesome and what is even better is that each blog in the hop will give away one light....so please put this on your calander for Monday and join in the fun!!

BLOCK 6

I am getting caught up....have two more to do. I have done this one a little different, if you are familiar with the blocks you will know what I did different but I outlined the letters and numbers that she said to double the threads.

Design by Little Miss Shappy
I want to take a minute to thank all of you for your kind words on my last few post. I am not able to respond to all of you at the present time or read blogs like I would like to.....

BIRDIE BIRDIE IN THE SKY!!!

wHY'D YOU DO THAT IN MY EYE?
I'M SO LONESOME I COULD CRY....
AREN'T YOU GLAD THAT COWS CAN'T FLY?

How many of you remember that from your youth?

Well....yesterday (Saturday)_ I got up and had that cleaning itch.... Husband and son went to help someone move and I went to task....

Cleaned the house and then went after my sewing room....I am just pleased as punch. I sure love clean.

Then........I set my hand to doing stitchery.

I am as giddy as a young school girl..... look what I have done!!

Block 4

Little Miss Shabby Has a Birdie Stitches of the Month....and well....I could list a whole slew of you that are responsible for me having a desire to do this.

So Shame on you all!!! Shame! Shame! Shame!....because I can't put it down.

I am just tickled pink .....

Block 3

I got most of my threads from Jane Fabrics,
Infact, truth be told her, Tudy, Terry, Fiona and Linda are sooooo much responsible for my new found hobby.....My husband thanks you from the bottom of his pea picking heart!!!
There I go naming names....but there are alot more of you out there stitching your hearts out and I have coveted (I know, not suppose to covet) your stitcheries and the way it looks in a quilt that I have just decided I must do a quilt and these birdies are just adorable.

Pinwheel

So yesterday after my not so happy sewing with the quilt/tablerunner..... I decided to put it aside and well.....

I used the charms that were left over to make this pinwheel quilt.

I did my pinwheels the way they did here

This was so fast and easy....

"Doest thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that's the stuff life is made of". Ben Franklin

So my question to you is....am I wasting my time doing this? Maybe if I used solid blocks in the middle for the windows? I was being lazy and just used Charm Packs....
This is that 3 Seam block....but I made it 5 1/2 inch blocks.....hummmm you can find the You Tube here

I think I will just wrap this up and make it a runner...and call it a day.....
