So I was over at Aunt Pitty Pats and she was sharing this adorable little basket.

You can find the tutorial at The Stitching RooM

I asked her permission if I could make about 60 of these for an activity we are having at church for the women's organization celebrating the Woman's Organization Birthday Anniversary (Relief Society). So...the only thing I did different was sew the seams by machine (maybe won't be so bad if I use coordinating thread instead of white)....and she did a cute blind stitch. I don't know if I want to take the time to hand sew the seams shut. What do you think, will it be okay with the seam showing on the outside? Should I use Samoan fabrics, use a jelly roll and have different ones, or use traditional fabrics and just stream line it and get them done faster?

As you are making 60 of them I would do whatever is fastest! Plus, you won't have to change the thread out with each one if they are all the same.

Those are adorable, and with matching thread, or coordinating thread would be perfect! Love the print of this one.

if it were me making that many, I would stream line them......I'd be tired of them after 10. lol

They're such cute little boxes. How about side by side seams with a decoative stitch?

While it is nice for you to want to make them all different and be FUSSY with the seam, etc......I think you need to do them in a way that is quick and easy......since you are making SIXTY of them!!!!! I"m sure those women will appreciate that you undertook such a large task and will be fine with them in traditional fabrics and with the seam on the outside!!! (If not, collect them all back and send them to your blogging friends....LOL)

That is so so cute. It would be perfect at Christmas for a favor.

Barb these turned out fun.. I can't wait to try one. I love the Idea of using jelly rolls on them. I think a nice bright colored jelly roll would work out fantastic.

Hi Barb! I love the basket... just darling! I think it would be great sewing it where the stitching shows.

What are you using the little baskets for? I love the idea that they are all different and the Samoan fabrics sound really cool but I don't know if that fits with your theme or not. Can you flat felt the seams? Otherwise, matching thread would be good! lol

You've been so productive these last few days! I think seams showing is fine (if you can, maybe do the zig-zag stitch there).

Samoan fabrics would be awesome! :D

I think traditional fabrics...that is a lot of baskets, which are so pretty, by the way!

It is darling, but 60, as fast as I could!

I vote for stream lining and I think coordinating machine stitching is fine! How nice of you to even make them!

That basket is so cute. Definitely use the Samoan fabrics. Since you are making so many, I'd use the easiest method possible.

Looks perfectly fine to me, just the way you've done it! I go with the consensus...whatever is quicker and whatever you can live with!!! I know it will be appreciated regardless!

I absolutely love this! It was wonderful. Can I make a suggestion? I love the red background you added but I can't read the blue writting on the red, it is very difficult to see it. BUT, I love this and I love the smaller quilt on top! Very cool. Steph
