Only comment on this post...don't go back to the old one because that will mess me up (cause me more work)...sheweee can you just see the sweat coming off my brow???

I will tally all the comments on this post along with all the other ones and announce the winneer as soon as I get up on Tuesday, which will be about noon your time, if you are in Central US???? Give or take a few hours.

Saturday's Mail

I ordered these sewing caddies from Sew Fun quilts. aren't they cute???

Then she sent me some fabric for the laides here....so I have them along with others that sent fabric in a box under my table. thanks sooooooooooo much

Then a little gal I know, I have known her since she was a little tyke...she was garage selling and she sent me these old quilt squares....don't you just love em????

ANOTHER ADVENTURE!

My husband and I decided to go hiking.

These are just a few pictures of Mt. Alava, it is 3 hours in and 2 out....why, because on the way in it is mostly uphill.....so....we decided to do this.

I found that it was easy for me to go up the hill but coming down was harder because I was afraid of slipping. Also, I had an advantage over my husband,he had a backpack on his back and I also do the gazzell everyday( exercise equipment). So it was very easy for me, easier than for him.

So...we almost get to the end, I am guess about 30 more minutes and we would have made it but my husband could not go another step up those hills...so he rested while I went further to check it out and well..there was no way he could make it.

I was worried he was going to have a heart attack. So....we turned back and am I ever glad we did. I was so proud...patting myself on the back for doing so much at 52 ( I am not ashamed of my age....I am proud that I have been allowed to live this long) but about 15 minutes before we got to the car I was feeling it....and let me tell you those last few minutes was as if I was wearing lead shoes.

We had to come home and take a nap....and I am just now getting rejuvinated. So enjoy the trail....

Absoutely beautiful up there...

The one picture before this next one was above the ocean scene.

I mustered up some energy and did this quilt, just two pieces together for a lady at church that had a baby....and then just sewed straight lines...easy!!!
It is more pink than what you see and this is Mary's material from Quilt Hollow
Hope you like what I am doing with your material Mary...and thanks so much!!

FINISHED PROJECT

As most of you know, I am on a towel addiction (anyone know a cure, please email me)....so...as I am moving fabric around from place to place (oh yes....I have a true mess in my sewing room)....I should say from pile to pile. Moving papers, scribbles, notes, patterns.....

So....as I am contemplating my next towel and I am thinking of doing tree skirts, (I have the cutest pattern). Anyways.....I hear this voice.... "Barbara"....now most people call me Barb...who could this be?

So...I ignore the voice until it happens again...and this time I recognize it as myself...so I say "What's up self?".......and then I remeber this.... from I have a notion, it was a giveaway win.....
So.....................

Then I have moved this more times than I want to admit. I won this over at Fabric Artist

So I tell myself to get lost....I am busy doing towels...but the voice calls again....it says "You know you want to....just come feel the wonderful fabric,
smell it...
can't you just see that wonderful wall hanging already done up?"

Go away self...I already have too much to do!

Well...as you can see from the next picture....I a weak....really weak...I confess it!! You heard it here first....yes....I am oh sooo weak...and my self won out....

Oh yes............

I made it a little bigger than the wall hanging and I also changed it up a little.
I am so thrilled and so now....back to the towels and tree skirts....

Anyone have a cure for shutting up the self??? Or am I skizoid? Do I have dual personalities? Hummmm, you better ask my husband that one?

Maybe he would like my self better....Barb or Barbara? Hummmmm Does he already know and is cheating on me?

Ginger Jar cut outs

I will solve this problem, Pat and Gene both will get one....

I AM LAUGHING....TOTALLY LAUGHING

WHY???

BECAUSE IT IS UNBELIEVABLE...TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE....

You ask what is???

So I asked my husband to pick a number between 1 and 28 for the winner of my Ginger Jar cut outs.....and well.

Okay you say...get to it...

WELL....FOR THE REST OF THE STORY...

GO to my post about the giveaway....and count down to number 12...yes, that is the number he picked....just go....and then come back here....

What are the odds??? Just what are they???? Now just so you know, I have sent this person something for all the help she has given me and so this is not something I just schemed up....ask her, she will tell you...... I am still laughing....what are the odds....yep, this is going to be a good day......so you see....

What goes around comes around....what you send out comes back to you...and this person sends out nothing but goodness.

Thanks for all of you who entered this giveaway....the quilt giveway is Tuesday....

The winner is Pat, she says it is Gene but I have counted 5 times and come up with her as number 12...so who is it? Pat or Gene? Either one would be wonderful...

Jennifer does have 4 of those totes with the cut outs if you would like one, only one will have the original pattern, couldn't get any more than that....so just let myself or her know ifyou are interested.

MORE TOWELS

My husband has been home since Wednesday and so as you know, my time is his time. So inbetween going to the store and walking the airport I made these......

I don't like how the stems turned out....

Pat and Hetty will like this one....

You just gotta have a Santa Claus....

I guess the reason I like to do these so well is because it is a project that gets done fast and so you feel like you are accomplishing something even when your time is limited....besides they are so fun!!

Some of you asked for pictures....here they are

This is our walk. We went again on Monday and this time I took my camera and some good shoes.
See the first white spot on the end of the picure, that is where we walked to on Saturday.

One day we are going to walk out in the ocean on these rocks...should be fun but will make sure high tide is no where in the makings.

The next is just a picture of part of the path....

We had to walk through these pesty bushes....

Now the rest are just some rock formation from the lava flow, thought you would like to see what we see. I am going to have a hard time leaving this place.

These pictures will come out on Thanksgiving so all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! We have alot to be thankful for.

Thanksful for my amazing sons.....this amazing island and my wonderful amazing blogging friends....

Thanksful for this beautifl world we live in and the wonderful creator of all things our Father in Heaven....who loves each of us and listens to our prayers no matter how small or great the asking.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Oh...me again...sorry.....I was able to get my hands one some ginger jar patterns. There will be four of them, just waiting for the patterns to show up.

LET'S "TALK STORY"

Saturday was such a busy day for me. We made our weekly run to the Post Office, then we walked around the airport (it is so beautiful, ocean all the way around) for 2 hours....talk about being tired. I lost the soles (yes, the soles to my water shoes)...so I had two pairs of socks on and then just the soft part of the shoe....I lost them one hour into our walk. Walking over lava rocks, in the ocean, on the beach....and yes, lost them...so I had to walk an hour back without them. Next time I go, I will take pictures and you can see that it truly was very difficult to make it back but very beautiful as well.

Then I had a meeting at 5:00 and afterwards went to dinner with a few friends. But...inbetween the Post Office and before the meeting, I made these two hand towels...the penguin needs eye....

Got the penguin at e-patternCentral.com

The snowflake I got at allpeoplequilt.com

ADDING SPICE TO A WHITE KITCHEN TOWEL

So my niece and I have our heads together, she designed the muffin, I brought my own ideas to it and this is what I came up with. I did my own lettering but you can find lettering anywhere but if you are interested in mine, I would be happy to scan them over to you (ooops...better make sure my scanner is working...oh....better yet, make sure my husband has scanner working...been out of commission for a while).

So..............here is the deal...comment on my blog and you will win this towel as part of our giveaway. Then go over to my niece's blog and check out what has been added to it, along with my niece's applique design, free for the chosing.

Blog about this and you get 3 extra points...order from her store, Inch worm fabrics and you get 10 along with 10 entries for the quilt below.

My niece has a background in the food industry, she told me once what her major was but I can't remember for the life of me but that being said.....

As a special bonus...here is a Blueberry Muffin receipe

Go to the store and get a poppy seed muffin mix....don't use the poppy seeds and add your own fresh or frozen blueberries.....Easy enough?

If that is not easy enough, just go buy you a blueberry muffin mix.

And you are saying to yourself....is she serious????

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup cooking oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Grease muffin tin, or use muffin cups.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Make a well in center and put to the side.

In another bowl combine egg, milk, and oil. Add to flour mixture.
Stir until moistened...you do not want to over stir, so you will have lumps.

Fold in 3/4 cups of Blueberries....I put more....because more is better!!

Spoon batter into muffin cups. Fill about 2/3 full.

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.

ummm ummmmm good.

LOOK WHAT CAME ALL THE WAY FROM AUSTRALIA

Thanks so much Lyn from Blue Bird Quilts. This is just wonerful....these pajamas and underware are just awesome. Notice the little sewing machine....that is a little gifty to me....yepeeeee....Thanks soooooooooooo much Lyn, I know you have been feeling bad, hope you are better!!

Now I have something to say...first thanks to all of the wonderful quilters that sent care packages...you truly are making a difference.

Next is, I am struggling. I have designed one baby quilt and one wall hanging. I really feel like I am mediocre at best and who am I to put my work out there. I don't feel like I am good enough or creative enough...the list of not enoughs are long. I have put off finishing these items for fear and this quote by Nelson Mandela came to my mind.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

So, that being said, in the next few days, weeks when I have finished my instructions, I will be posting what I have come up with, that is if fear does not take over.
