Bamboo

Went into this little store the other day and this is what I found!

Aren't they wonderful? Cheap too.....

Here is the inside, sorry that it is blurry. The things I can do with these.

Yesterday I was asked to go today with a friend to her grandma's to teach her how to stipple. Am I busy....very...but will I drop everything and go?? Yes, I find alot of enjoyment out of showing someone how to stipple, quilt....even if I don't know much. We spent most of the morning there and part of the afternoon....her batting was so thick that I think it was messing with the tension....does anyone have a suggestion? We ended up with the decision to just tie it and next time get better batting. Now Gene had a wonderful post about batting so I am going to go over there and check out his suggestions.

There are so many of you posting, giving giveaway about the tsunami and needing help. I do want you to know that I do appreciate everything, there are so many of you it is almost impossible to name you all, or thank you adequately enough. I saw a post that kinda bothered me, like I was not showing enough appreciation, if any of you feel that way, please forgive me. If there is something more I can be doing, let me know......words can not express my gratitude and humility I feel as the packages come in. Thank you soooooooooooooo much!!

I don't know who or why anyone would say that you were not showing appreciation but boy they could not be more wrong. You have done so much yourself. All the pillowcases and lava lava's that you have made is amazing. Why do you think I was inspired to do the giveaway? It was because of you and your generosity.

What a great find Barb! You really have been getting wonderful things for the tsunami victims, and I am so pleased with that. Thanks for sending over Linda to my blog. She is lovely! We do have a lot in common!

Cool boxes Barb!! Don't let the nay sayers bother you, they are just small minded people. We who know how much work you have done to help your community appreciate your love and kindness. Besides, giving is about love not kudos.

I can't imagine who posted something about you not being grateful enough. Your post about the joy of sharing the stuff with the locals was wonderful. If that didn't show the gratitude, well, someone's eyes were blinded.

Don't let one cranky poster get to you. The rest of us know how much you appreciate the kind hearted bloggers who have sent things to help the tsunami victims.

I think you have been doing a wonderful job of helping people there since the tsunami (and also have been a very caring person before that happened). You give a lot of your time AND also "things" to people to help them learn to quilt, etc. Don't let anyone make you doubt yourself!!! As for that thick batting, I am sure that could cause a tension problem when stippling. Sorry you had to end up tying the quilt....but at least you got it done!

Barb, I think you have done a wonderful thing by giving people the opportunity to give with the knowledge that the gift will go directly to those in need. I, for one, think you have more than adequately recognized those who have helped.

I think sometimes people say things before they think. I think you are doing a wonderful thing by helping others in your area. It takes a lot of your time and effort to sort and deliver packages. I think.....don't worry about her comment and Thank You for all you are doing.

Barb, don't let what one person says bother you. I always say they are a dime a dozen, you're one in a million.

As to stippling...I've learnt that if I put my stitch width to 0, it works perfectly no matter how thick the batting. Does that help?
